Kaş

The journey to Kaş was one of the most lovely road trips that I took in Turkey due to the late afternoon sunlight and the coastline. It's not often that I take shots from moving vehicles due to the uncertainty of success, but I was obviously sufficiently impressed by the scenery to try.

I think this is just a coastal town on the way since there are a couple more shots before Kaş. I'll be quiet now and let the photos speak for themselves.

When I arrived there, the hotel I wanted wasn't operating any more so I turned to the next alternative, the Kale Hotel. This was a bit classy and pricey at 18M TL for two nights, but the views from the terrace were fantastic. The mysterious island in the distance would be my destination the next day. You could discover its identity from the hyperlink, or wait till tomorrow.

A somewhat obscured view to the bay and town.

This last picture is a bit of a mystery. I don't know the pretty Turkish woman in it and I don't remember where I took it. I seldom take portraits of strangers. My best guess, judging that it was the last picture in the roll, is that I wanted to finish off the roll and aimed the telephoto lens at an unsuspecting native. However the lighting suggests that it was taken earlier in the day which means it wasn't really the last shot in the roll. The slides could be out of sequence because they were returned by the processing lab unnumbered, uncharacteristic of the Kodak service. So it could have been taken anywhere between Fethiye and Kaş. There wouldn't be any identification problem these days with digital cameras that have timestamps and even geolocation. Oh well, some things will remain a mystery.
